Before handling the card
Know whether you are replacing a card on an existing line, changing phones or starting a new provider relationship. Those three tasks can use different account processes even when the same small plastic card is involved. Check your exact device model and the provider’s current instructions.
Card size and service
Nano SIM describes a physical form factor, not a plan or a network. Do not cut a larger card or force it into a tray. A card that fits does not prove the subscription is active or that the device supports the required voice and data features.
Moving to another handset
Keep a backup of personal files and authentication access. A SIM does not contain all of a phone’s photos, messages and apps. After following the approved device-change process, test incoming and outgoing calls, SMS and mobile data rather than relying on the presence of signal bars.
If it is lost
Use official support promptly to protect the line and arrange a replacement. A replacement should be associated with the intended account; do not assume buying another card restores the old number automatically. Keep account verification inside the provider’s own channels.
